Chandigarh, January 10 Coming down upon the ‘callous’ attitude of Union of India for not filing its reply against the case filed by S S Virk, former Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, challenging his suspension, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has given a last opportunity to the Union of India to file its reply.

Resenting the non-filing of reply despite clear instructions from the CAT on the last date of hearing, it has now held that if the reply is not filed within a period of 14 days, the Joint Secretary will be asked to appear in person on the next date of hearing.

The Punjab government and Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, have already filed their respective replies against the petition filed by S S Virk, former Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab. The former DGP had challenged his suspension orders issued by the Punjab government. Virk had raised questions over the ‘aberrant’ conduct of the Punjab government wherein he was chargesheeted ten days after being suspended.
