Solan, February 15 Faced with non-availability of adequate land in industrial townships of Baddi and Barotiwala, the government has identified over 1,800 bighas of land for establishing a new industrial estate in Bagheri area of Nalagarh sub-division of the district.

Notably, some big industrial houses, including Nokia, Ashok Leyland and others, have expressed interest to establish their units in this industrial belt. Encouraged by the arrival of a large number of industries in the region, Chief Minister P.K. Dhumal had directed the officials of Department of Industries to identify land for setting up of a new industrial estate in Nalagarh.

Sources in the Department of Industries revealed that the officials, after visiting the site, had sent a detailed project report to the district administration for initiating the needed process of acquiring the land. Sources revealed that out of 1,800 bighas of identified land, the ownership of some land was in the name of some farmers of Anandpur Sahib of Punjab. Sources added that the district administration would soon issue notices to the owners of the land.

Sources revealed that ownership of the identified land was in the name of over 100 farmers of Punjab and Himachal. Presently, around two dozen residential houses and cowsheds exist on the land, which would not be acquired by the government. Instead, the department would provide all basic amenities to these villagers in the proposed industrial estate. Also, no farmers of the area would be rendered landless.

Sources further revealed that the officials concerned of Department of Industries, after completing the initial process, have submitted a project report to the district administration.

Confirming the government’s decision, an official of department of industries said after examining all the aspects, the land would be transferred in the name of department, which would further allot the industrial plots to investors.
