With the first revised schedule submitted by the IPL on March 7 failing to get the nod from state governments, most of whom expressed their inability to provide secuirty to the tournament, the organisers are expected to submit a second itinerary to the government, sources said.

The MHA, the sources said, is likely to underline that it expects the IPL to first have state governments on board over security issue before submitting any revised schedules. Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta is likely to hold meetings with the IPL organisers, the sources said.

On March 13, the MHA told IPL organisers that it may not be feasible to hold the matches as per the revised schedule they had submitted. The ministry asked the IPL to accommodate the concerns of the various state governments, and to draw up a fresh schedule. Apart from Tamil Nadu, which gave a go-ahead because all matches in Chennai are scheduled after the polling is over, all other states had some issue or the other regarding security.

While Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, which were to host 18 matches between themselves, clearly expressed their inability to provide security during the election period, Karnataka replied to MHA that it could only provide security on four of the six match days.
