* The Delhi Development Authority has four regional parks, 25 forests, 111 district parks, 255 neighbourhood parks and 26 play grounds, which it maintains
* As per Masterplan 2001, 8,722 hectares of land—about 19 per cent of the total urban area of 44,777 hectares—are green
* It includes 1,577 hectares under the northern, central and south central ridge. The rest of the area—7,145 hectares, which is around 15 per cent of total urban area—is occupied by district, city and community parks
* The ridge, partially under the maintenance of the DDA, is spread over 7,777 hectare
* The northern ridge covers 87 hectares, the central ridge is spread over 864 hectares, southern central ridge covers 626 hectares and the southern ridge, which, at 6,200 hectares, is the largest
* As part of the urban extension plan, the green cover is to be provided at 15 per cent of the total land, excluding the ridge and regional parks
* Out of 87 hectares in northern ridge, the Delhi Administration maintains six hectares and the remaining is under the control of the DDA. Around 10,000 morning and evening walkers enjoy the greenery and natural environment of this area
* Major greens developed and maintained by the DDA include Ashoka Garden in Ashok Vihar, which is spread over 77 acres, and Swarnjayanti Park in Rohini, which covers 96 hectare
