The website is the brainchild of a 25 year old entrepreneur Omkar Deodhar of Easy Online Education Pvt Ltd. It comprises the entire IIT JEE syllabus of 60 chapters with over 200 problems for each chapter all designed by IITians. An IIT aspirant has to enrol with EasyIIT by registering on the website and then make the payment. EasyIIT 2 year programme for IIT-JEE 2010 is available at Rs 33700, EasyIIT 1 year programme for IIT-JEE 2009 is available at Rs 18000 and EasyIIT Test Series for IIT-JEE 2009 is available at Rs 14000. Deodhar explained, “While interacting with some IITians, I realised that most of them joined test series and some other correspondence courses in addition to their classes because the coaching classes wouldn’t suffice. The main aim for starting this website was to make education accessible, affordable and enjoyable.”
The website, he claimed, would provide each student with three IIT students as mentors who would provide detailed feedback and analysis on every aspect of the student’s performance, easy 24X7 access and facility for chatting with mentors for clarifying doubts. The use of animations, applets, 3D movable pictures, etc. would be very helpful to enable the student to visualize and understand the topics better, he added.
Shantanu Kelkar, an IIT electrical engineering student and the product head for Physics for EasyIIT said, “No coaching class gives individual attention. The fees are exorbitant too. Through the website we are able to provide the students much more than what the coaching classes have to offer and that too at a low cost.”
Within a span of twenty days, the website has attracted over a hundred students to the ‘free demonstration’ section on the website, many have enrolled themselves, Deodhar said. “At present, our team consists of eight to nine IITians. Many more have shown interest in joining us and we will take them in as and when required.”
Deodhar had also started a website http://easycat.com for Common Aptitude Test (CAT) coaching for Indian Institutes of Management aspirants in 2004.
