Delivering the convocation address, Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai said the task of education is not only to train the intellect and sharpen the skills, but also to prepare morally upright and spiritually strong individuals. He exhorted the students to strive for excellence in the globalised world, and valiantly accept the challenges of life.
“It is when you get the degrees that the real education begins. When step in to the competitive world, you are supposed to apply your knowledge in life. One must have the humility to learn, as one who thinks he knows everything cannot learn. Besides, one should be ready to accept the changes in life too,” he added.
Degrees were conferred on 693 students including 415 graduates from the disciplines of BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA and BBA, and 278 post graduates.
The roll of honour was also awarded to 14 students; 35 students were given college colour; and merit certificates were awarded to 164 students. In her welcome address, Principal Dr Charanjit Mahal highlighted the achievements of the college in various academics, sports and extra curricular activities.
She said that the college has acquired the status of one of the pioneer educational institutes of the state, where cultural, social, moral and spiritual values are inculcated in the students. Gurbir Singh, President Guru Nanak Education Trust, congratulated the students on their achievements and wish them good luck for their future.
He also encouraged the students to develop a true learning spirit in them.
