Gurdeep fashions RLCR win

Chandigarh, December 31 An all round performance by Gurdeep Rana (65 and 3 for 17) helped RLCR XI beat AZZARO XI by 22 runs in the league match of the 2nd TR Mittal Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by the Chandigarh Sports Club, at Government Model Senior Secondary School-32 here today.

RLCR XI won the toss and opted to bat first. But the decision proved wrong as the team lost first two wickets at a score of just 8 runs in the second over.

Two more wickets fell subsequently and the team was struggling at 16 for 4 in 4.1 overs. In a fight back, Vipin Sharma (39) and Gurdeep Rana (65) put up a 5th wicket partnership of 77 runs. The team finally put up a respectable total of 167 runs before getting all out in23 overs. Manpreet Tinku also contributed with 22 runs. Pardeep Chibber picked up 4 wickets giving away 17 runs in his spell of 5 overs. In reply, AZZARO XI started well as openers scored 58 runs but they could not keep up with the required run rate and ended the innings 22 runs short of the target.

In another nail biting encounter, Pace Club-32 and Royal CC ended their match in a tie. Both the teams were bowled out for 106 runs.

Pace -32:106 all out in 21.2 overs (Sahil Kapoor 25, Charanamrit 11, Aman 11, Aman Kumar 3/13, Vimal Tinkoo 2/12)

Royal CC: 106 all out in 22 overs (Shiv Kumar 16, Vimal Tinkoo 14, Vinod Sharma13, Sahil 2 for 21, Vipan Bhatia 2 for 14).
