Gurgaon-Alwar road widening project approved

Chandigarh, March 16 The widening and strengthening of the Gurgaon-Alwar and Hodal-Nuh-Pataudi Patauda roads have been approved under the National Capital Region (NCR) scheme in order to create a sound network of roads in and around Gurgaon and Mewat region.

An official spokesman said that widening and maintenance work on 193-km of road would be undertaken under the scheme on which Rs 588 crore would be spent.

He said that after the creation of Mewat as a new district of the state, the government had laid emphasis on road/ infrastructure development of this district. He said that the total length of road in Mewat district was 1,125 km, out of which over 43-km had been repaired under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) with an expenditure of over Rs 13.73 crore and the work of strengthening and widening of five other roads of about 66-km length at an estimated cost of about Rs 40 crore was in progress in Mewat area.

The spokesman said that an expenditure of Rs 15.88 crore had been incurred on repair and improvement of roads under various schemes in Mewat district during the current financial year. He said that construction and repair of old Gurgaon-Alwar road passing through Nuh town, Pingwan-Shikrawa road, Solpur-Kolgaon-Doha road, Gurgaon-Alwar road and Nuh-Palwal road had also been sanctioned recently.
