kolkata, April 23 The Calcutta High Court asked private TV channels on Wednesday to provide the video footage of the press conference, which was addressed by Prasun Mukherjee, former Commissioner of Police, on September 23, 2007.

After viewing a video footage provided by the Kolkata Doordarshan, Justice Dipankar Dutta observed that the quality of the video was very poor and the statement made by Mukherjee could not be made out. Mukherjee had allegedly stated that Rizwanur Rehman had committed suicide along the railway tracks. The Court asked all private TV channels to come forward and provide the video footage with full text and an affidavit.

It was also revealed during the hearing today that Priyanka’s uncle Pradip Todi had written three letters to Prasun Mukherjee on September 1, 4 and 14, which the CBI had seized from the Kolkata police during the investigations. Justice Dutta asked the CBI to place the letters before the Bench.

Counsel of the state government also submitted the letter written by Rizwanur and Priyanka to the former Commissioner of Police on August 31, 2007, in which they expressed their fear that their lives were at stake.

The matter will come up for the next hearing on April 29.
