In a public interest litigation filed by Manohar Lal Bansal, a resident of Bathinda district, he has demanded the quashing of orders issued by the Chief PUDA Administrator, Bathinda, to auction a site called Blue Fox, which is located on the Bathinda-Barnala road.
The auction was scheduled for today at 11 am. Since Bansal’s petition came up for hearing after 11 am, the High Court has held that the final decision on the auction of the site will be subject to the decision of the court.
The Blue Fox was acquired by the Municipal Committee, Bathinda, to establish waterworks for supplying pure water to the residents of Bathinda.
According to advocate Binderjit Singh, the petitioner contended that after the conversion of the Bathinda Municipal Committee into a corporation, elections have not been conducted till date.
Binderjit said, “The Akali Dal is apprehensive that it will not get majority in Bathinda Municipal Corporation if elections are conducted now.”
The petitioner argued that after auctioning the site, the money collected could be deposited in the Punjab Infrastructure Development Fund to develop various other projects in Punjab, said Binderjit.
