They are the school’s highest scorers since its inception in 1957, which imparts education to visually challenged students who belong to economically weaker sections of the society.
The son of a farmer in Midnapore, Prasenjit Adak had joined the academy as an eight-year-old.
Also, for Prasenjit Haldar, the son of a rickshaw-puller, it had been a tough climb to the success ladder.
Fifteen visually challenged students, who had appeared for the Madhyamik this year, cleared the examination.
The school has been performing well in the Board Examinations.The students can apply to any normal school for further education under the system of Integrated Education.
They often continue studies and the school is ready to provide them financial help, said former Principal Sunil Baran Pattanayak.
The Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boy’s Academy received the National Award in 1984 for its noble work.
Since 1987 it has been affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
The school holds regular classes from class I to X and also provides boarding facilities to students.
Apart from offering formal education through Braille books, the students are also given Additional Compensatory Education.
This includes training on mobility, orientation and day-to-day activities.
