Kolkata, February 13 The Calcutta High Court today granted anticipatory bail to a person on the merit of the statement of his daughter-in-law.

The family of Sudeshna Dutta (26) had alleged that Rafizul Seikh had abducted her. Rafizul (26) is employed by businessman Prasanta Dutta and resides in Burdwan.

Rafizul and Sudeshna (19), daughter of Prasanta Dutta, had an affair for long following which Sudeshna left her home on November 20, 2007. They got married and Sundeshna converted to Islam on November 22. After conversion Sudeshna had changed her name to Tania Khatun.

Following the developments, Prasanta Dutta filed a complaint with the Raina police station alleging that Sudeshna was kidnapped by the Seikh family. The police arrested Rafizul’s mother and she was released on bail by an order passed by a magistrate of Burdwan court.

Then Immamul filed an anticipatory bail in Calcutta High Court and the division bench asked the state government to take a statement from Sudeshna.

Today, a division bench of Justices D P Sengupta and P K Deb granted anticipatory bail to Immamul after examining the statement by Sudeshna, who said she had married Rafizul by her own will.
