CSI president Prof K K Aggarwal, in the city to attend a two-day national conference on Network security and Management, said, “Our software package in Hindi will be much like the Microsoft’s Windows and other operating systems. It will have all the features of popular operating systems.”
For developing the first of its kind operating system in Hindi language, a CSI team is presently working in Hyderabad.
“Taking up the challenge about six-months ago, the team plans to complete the project soon. If all goes according to our plan, in a year, our countrymen will work with the Hindi operating system,” added Aggarwal, who also happens to be the Vice-Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSI), Delhi.
CSI professionals feel that this move will immensely help in promoting computer applications across the country. “As Hindi is our national language, operating system in the same language will make computer applications more acceptable to the masses. For many, English language acts as a barrier when it comes to learning computers,” said Aggarwal. CSI will soon prepare a strategy to spread awareness for the upcoming software in Hindi language, he further said.
