According to an official release, the chief minister said Gurgaon had attained global recognition, during a ‘Nav Vikas Rally’ here today, and gave assurances of his government’s commitment towards making a place for the city in the list of important cities of the world.
“For this, a provision of Rs 776 crore has been made for improving infrastructure in Gurgaon and this amount will be spent over a period of three years. Out of this, Rs 275 crore have been spent so far,” Randhir Sanghwan, Deputy PRO of Gurgaon, said in the release.
The forming of a municipal corporation for Gurgaon had been earlier raised by local MLA Dharamvir Gauba and was later supported by Union Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjeet Singh.
He also announced the set up of a storm water drainage system in Gurgaon at a cost of Rs 112 crore. Touching upon the imminent arrival of the Metro to Gurgaon, Hooda said a global corridor will also be made on both sides of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway.
The chief minister also flagged off five low-floor AC buses, which will ply between Gurgaon and Delhi. He said 20 more such buses will be purchased for city transport.
The release said that Hooda had announced plans to incur an expenditure of Rs 162 crore on the construction and maintenance of judicial complexes in the state.
“Judicial complexes in 17 out of 20 districts of Haryana are completed and now the government has started constructing judicial complexes at the sub-division level. The complexes at Loharu, Charkhi Dadri and Safidon have been completed and work on judicial complexes of Naraingarh, Pehowa and Hodal was in progress,” it said.
Meanwhile, Rao Inderjeet Singh gave assurances that the Army’s ammunition depot would be shifted else where depending on the availability of land. The demand for shifting the depot was raised by Dharamvir Gauba because some colonies like Rajiv nagar and Sheetla Colony lie within nine hundred metres of the ammunition depot, where construction is prohibited.

The government boasts of new buses and plans to develop gurgaon. But the more basic problem has been left unattended to. There are no roads for buses to ply on. The road from bata chowk to IFFCO has been rain washed and is replete with potholes. Everyday all the cars going from bus-stand to IFFCO ply via that road and due to the condition of road, there is a huge jam. The road stretches for less than a km and takes 15 mins to cross. It reflects on the need for maintenence which unfortunately our heads of state have overlooked so well.
