London Aussie star Hugh Jackman wants late actor Heath Ledger to win an Academy award for his role in 'The Dark Knight'.

The X-men star insists he would love his late fellow countryman to get the posthumous honour.

"I can't hide the fact that I would really love for that honour to be bestowed upon him. It would be fitting and I think he deserves it," the ‘Daily Express’ quoted Jackman as saying.

Ledger, who died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008, has already been honoured with the Best Supporting Actor gong at the Golden Globes as well as at the BAFTAs.

Honor Heath Ledger by Sushi on 21 Feb 2009

Heath Ledger is (was) a rare gem in the movie making industry. I personally did not know him but was very torn when I had heard of his death. I still look at Heath as one of the best actors out there. We shall honor him and his family and celebrate his life and lift his family up in his death. We love you Heath...I would give anything to see your beautiful smile again.
