Kolkata, April 13 Sarabjit Singh, who will be executed at the end of this month in Pakistan, has found supporting voices in Kolkata.

The International Human Rights Protection Association observed a protest today and submitted a letter to the West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi asking him to take up the issue.

The IHRPA’s minority in-charge for West Bengal, Shamim Ahmed said that around 300 human rights activists had assembled in central Kolkata for a sit-in protest.

“All the protestors had covered the lower part of their face as a mark of protest. The protest in Kolkata is part of a nation-wide activity by the IHRPA for Sarabjit’s release,” said Ahmed.

“We have appealed to the Governor to intervene on humanitarian grounds and take up the matter with the Pakistan government immediately. We have also demanded a reprieve for him from the Pakistan government,” Ahmed added.
