Chennai, January 17: Lashing out at actor-turned politician Vijaykant's 'bid to usurp' late M G Ramachandran's legacy, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Thursday said that the party led by her was the 'true legacy' of the late leader.

'We can make instant coffee, but we cannot produce instant leaders in politics', she said, taking a swipe at Vijayakant, without naming him, while addressing party cadre at Ramavaram Gardens in Chennai, where AIADMK founder MGR lived.

After paying tributes to Ramachandran on his 91st birth anniversary, she said, "I am the true political heir of MGR. We are running the AIADMK party founded by him. I am its general secretary. Nobody can claim any right over his legacy,".

Jayalalitha paid homage to the leader at his memorial. She also spent some time inside the house and interacted with the family members.
