He told a press meet in Chennai that his stand against liquor and tobacco had earned the wrath of these industrialists and he had been singled out for his stand by them.
Ramadoss said his stand on social justice had made the anti-reservationists to turn against him.
Appearing undaunted over sharp reactions from Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan for his advice, Ramadoss said, "I am not against Shah Rukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan, who had come out against me for tirade against tobacco and liquor. In fact, they are brand ambassadors for the Health Ministry's programmes. I want to know whether films will not run without smoking and drinking scenes," he said.
Bachchan on May 12 had hit back at Ramadoss for his repeated comments, saying, "all I request the minister is to focus on his own people. By asking Shah Rukh Khan or me to quit smoking or alcohol in our cinema, an attempt is being made to tarnish the image of the film industry. That should not happen," he said in an interview.
Film personalities like Sharmila Tagore too had criticised the minister for his comments.
Defending his campaign, Ramadoss, however, reeled out figures, stating that 14.1 per cent of school going children had become tobacco addicts and that was mainly because they were attracted to smoking due to actors' smoking scenes in the films.
Liquor consumption had also gone up in the country, spoiling the youth. This was also due to drinking scenes in the films, he said.

it is surprising that Parliament had to pass an act to unseat one individual and all for accomplishing one man’s zeal. It took the Supreme Court to undo that act. The government should have honourably owned up this lapse and relinquished office. Atleast now the government should allow the institute to pursue its mission of treating the sick and ailing.
I have no doubt that Dr Ramdoss has honest intentions he going about it the wrong way. It just that he is permitting his ego to take over control of his actions and behaviour. He went after Venugopal not because Venugopal was incompetent but he is from so called upper caste society. Dr.Mr.Ramadoss.your comments over the film industry and the one of shiv sena's over the pakistanis playin the IPL ,both have something in common-i.e both are ridiculus.Instead of stupid issues , it would be nice if you improve the sanitary conditions in our public hospitals where déjà patients have bad food and moreover thsese filthy ward boys pocket the milk ,bread and the eggs destined to the patients.Try improving the quality of food in the noon meal scheme where poor children die of food poisoning.Films are not real world and much of our population are aware about that.

I really want the saints to be our ministers. The trouble is paying up for their free advisory services. They want so many good work to be undertaken in this country but never tell us who will pay for it. I don't smoke, drinking is occasional. However, drunkards and smokers pay more taxes than all the honest people of this country put together. No smoker and no drunkards mean many in this country will remain without a living. Let those people who want to be destroyed led by the smoky devils to the gas chamber. I personally do not want angel Ramdoss to go anywhere near that hell and burn away his salary.

First work for the nation, see the hospitals are clean, sweepers at hospitals are paid, dont siphon hospital sweepers fund, increase per capita healthcare budget. Tell your children and relatives not to drink, smoke. If you are from kerala, see that your brethen from Kerala get proper medical in the gulf states.
