I could not leave shooting in London to vote: Salman

Mumbai Actor Salman Khan said that he was shooting in London for Anil Sharma's 'Veer' on April 30, the polling day in Mumbai, and hence could not cast his vote.

"It was not possible for me to take a flight from London just to show that I voted," Salman said when asked why he failed to cast his vote when he had extensively campaigned for some candidates.

When pointed out that his contemporaries Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had specially flown down to Mumbai from their foreign destinations to perform their duty as a citizen, Salman said, "They have the time and money to do so which I do not have."

To a question on whether he felt voting was not important, Salman in his inimitable style said, "The Government should make voting mandatory by punishing people who don't do so and giving incentives to citizens to vote. I would come for that extra money."

I think Indian government need to think about. Its very valid point people have professional commmittment to fulfill. Even if somebody is CEO and have money to fly back to India. But Professional committment can not compromised.I mean this is rediculuous people flying back all thw way to india and back to just cast a vote. I am not undermining the importance of voting here. But do not you think it is way too much to ask for. In decomarcy we need to really think how can we envolve more and more people..

Salman's statement is real idiotic typical of the average Babu mentality. As a muslim the fellow should have set an example instead of indulging in stupid comments, such that had the government provided him with cash he would have voted. Just shows the corrupt mentalality of slum boys who have made a few millions in films. Cinema goers should boycott his movies for his anti national and anti democracy remarks.

Why should Salman leave to go vote I find your comment very insulting - when elections is held is USA Americans can vote in which ever country they are in they don't have to fly back and are you sure this is what Sallu said or is this another move from the media to make him look bad You are stupid to think that Salman fans woudl give him up for such an idiotic statement - whats wrong with you Indians remarks like this make me sometimes being ashamed to be an Indian - learn to be nice and kind to other the way Sallu is and you would be better person
