"I do not endorse smoking and I do not like anyone telling me personally what to do and what not to do," Khan said in an interview to NDTV news channel.
"You cannot tell me how to earn a packet, you cannot tell me what to eat and what to wear, what not to say to my wife, these are personal things. So, I guard that very jealously," he said.
Ramadoss had, earlier this week, said Khan should not have smoked in the stands while watching a cricket match in Mumbai and that he and Amitabh Bachchan can learn a thing or two from superstar Rajinikant regarding smoking on screen.
But Khan had this piece of advice for everyone. "I tell children all the time, please do not smoke because it is the worst. If I do not smoke, I would be a big movie star for many, many years to come or maybe I won't be because I smoke that is such a bad thing to do. Do not do it," he pleaded.
Khan (42) has earned the ire of anti-smoking groups on different occasions for lighting up in public in violation of a 2004 ban.
In October, the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication slapped a legal notice on him asking him to explain his actions after he was spotted smoking at a cricket match and at a media conference.
The Union Minister just adviced SRK.he not at all ordered.so its SRK's wish to smoke or not. But SRK should think it with a Broad Mind, here there is no reason for SRK to show angrieness. Being a good star actor in Indian film Industry.. he is a role model for many ppl.so only union minister just make this matter to think for SRK.
SRK is so called great king not to be given any advise-he is uncrwoned king of so calle bully Bollywooood-

In public place, smoking should be banned. For a good cause, everyone should join hands and make it a success.
Come on guys why you have been thinking all along SRK is king. I have been watching him in movies I must admit that to me he does not look like any king ving. Definitely not a role model for our innocent kids.He is behaving this way because our families and the kids have been regardlessly watching his movies and filling his coffers. The only way such persons will definitely listen is to stop seeing his movies. This way our kids can be saved from such life threatening habits like smoking which the world over are being banned.Besides the point is not whether he listens or not, but saving our kids from life threatening habits like smoking.
I think, the Union Minister has no role to advise anybody on personal matter. The point is not whether smoking is good or bad - but that it is somebody's personal matter. SRK's response is very level headed and not at all arrogant. It is a fashion these days to humilate popular personalities.

indian are not that so foolishly follow the actors onwatching them om screens, its just entertainment.

I do not like sharukh Khan as such but I like the way he has slapped Ramdoss. Dear MrShah Rukh Khan, though the health minister in wrong in pointing out only at you like this when many other celebrities misbehave in public life, you are more wrong by making such public uttrances as you are not a ordinary citizen of India! You are the role model for many younsters in India and if you do smoking in CINIMA and in public many of the Indian youth tend to think that it is heroic action and can be emulated.Did you ever realized how much damaging would it be for healt of Indian youth!Great people can not do wrong things, that to in public.So better stop smoking in public and in Cinimas which are viewed by childen and youth.You can smoke at your home and say whatever to your wife , family, friends in private but in public you can not wear whatever you wish!As the King Khan of India you have moral responsibility of not sending wrong signals to Indian children and youth.Not smoking in public is one among them!
SRK's remarks depict his arrogance. He says he does not like to be told what to do whether it is film or in real life.Something wrong has gone into his head because of the greed of his (so called friend) Karan Johar. In films, he did and is doing, he did/is doing what the director wants him to do. SRK got prominence after Pardes and we have eheard Subhash Ghai saying that he can produce 100 SRKs.It is SRK"s time but soon he will come across a director who will tell him that he has to do what the director wants him to do.Karan Johar is not doing any service to him. At forty or so SRK may be very rich and reputed but his arrogance will take away his popularity.

Shahrukh is very much right in his approach,Why people are targetting him,it should be media who should not take his snaps while he is smoking during a cricket match...why he should quit smoking for that...He should have a personal life...and on movies he would be having the say of the role for that script writer has to take care.?? He should not be told but ordered to quit smoking on screen and punished for his past violation of the law for smoking at public places. He is living in India, not in lawless Afganistan or Pakistan. Anyways, why he is so arrogant? Is he so arrogant for his monkey jumping in the movies?
Doctor's Order sounds a bit funny. Why can't the Govt. support Anbumani and change the RULES for the CENSOR! If ANY Producer comes with his can in which there is a Cigarette Smoking Scene the Govt. will NOT hesitate to USE the Scissors!
