To press his justification of the deal, he cited the support the agreement has got from former President A P J Abdul Kalam, former National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra and the scientific community.
Kalam, Mishra and the scientific community are of the "near unanimous opinion that the nuclear deal is in our national interest," Singh told journalists in Bagdogra before wrapping up his two-day visit to Bhutan.
The deal will enlarge our options to produce nuclear power, the Prime Minister said.
Seeking to allay apprehensions about the deal, he said, "We will continue to protect our strategic programme. I sincerely hope that good sense will prevail," he added.
Asked whether the May 28 meeting of UPA-Left committee on nuclear deal would be the last, he merely said, "let us wait and see."

It is useless to expect any good sense from the commnist parties. They are interested only in their philsophy of communism which has been discarded by all countries all over the world including even China and Russia.Neither are they interested in the welfare of India or its people. They want to create problems for the people of India for the sake of their outdated ideology.Such people are truly traitors as they cannot digest India progressing under free economy.Earlier they had blackmailed Jawahar Lal Nehru to submit to their dictates with the help of Russia, threatening to bring out Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with the help of Russia who was holding him captive.
Good sense of whom? Puppet PM's or patriotic citizens of Bharat? In four years, good sense didn't prevail upon you Puppet PM Singh. How many times you cheated the nation on different issues- from Bihar assesmbly to nuclear deal? If you have iota of sense of shame, you must keep your mouth shut. We don't need a nuclear deal to become sub-ordinate power to western world. For you, there is nothing to say about achievement. So, you think by signing an unfair deal you will create a history for you. Forget it. We are going to give up our nuclear weapon status for your personal history.
PM's advice to the Leftis is, at best, gratuitous. It can not penetrate ears which have lost their hearing power and to a head without brain. The right and only course for the UPA Government is to go ahead with the deal even if,as a consequence, it falls. The sacrice is not too heavy a price in the national interest. It should rest assured that the grateful people of the country will vote it in with a much larger mandate. Otherwise the janata and history will never excuse it. Having cme thus far, to let the deal fall will be sheer opportunism and it could be aptly said ' kismat ki khubi dekheeye tuti kahan kamnd, jab ke lab-bam do char hath reh gaya. Mr. Manmohan Singh!,listen to your conscience and act. Time does not wait for any body. You are the hope of the country and do not hand it over to doom sayers of Arjun Singh brand.
What a fond hope Mr.Prime Minister!!!Does good sense and lefties go together.Never;particularly when it is relating to USA,viewed by lefties with jaundiced eye.Especially when such deal resulting in economicc prosperity of the nation which is anathema to the red brigade,as they thrive on perpetuating poverty. No hope Mr.P.M.Go ahead ,be bold, implement policies and deals which help the nation in progressing unmindful of regressive lefties.THEIR MINDS ARE MADE UP,CAN NOT BE ALTERED.
