London, April 3: Hours after the Goa government gave its nod for transfer of the sensational Scarlett Keeling murder case to CBI, the slain British teenager's mother has termed the move as reassuring and hoped there would be no more ‘bending’ of the truth in the case.

The decision to hand over the inquiry to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was reassuring, Fiona MacKeown told newsmen on Wednesday evening.

"We will get the right people. No more lying, no more bending the truth," said MacKeown, who has brought the body of her 15-year-old daughter to the UK for burial.

She charged that the Goan police system was corrupt and accused the officials of treating her daughter's murder as less important than sustaining tourism.

"I need to know what happened to her, I cannot rest until I know," she said.

MacKeown, mother of eight who had been holidaying with Scarlett in Goa, hoped that the state police are prosecuted for their role in the investigation of the death of her daughter, who body was found on Anjuna beach on February 19.

Police initially said Scarlett had accidentally drowned and after MacKeown challenged it, a second postmortem examination was ordered which found she was raped before her body washed up on the shore.
