New Delhi Under fire from different quarters over the tie-up with Kalyan Singh, Samajwadi Party accused certain Congress leaders of "fanning" the issue, but made it clear that it would not break the alliance with the grand old party.

"They (some Congress leaders) are making Kalyan a great issue, they are fanning this..." SP general secretary Amar Singh said during an interview on the 'Devil's Advocate' programme.

After the demolition of Babri Masjid, Congress had said that they would re-build the mosque there, BJP said they would build a temple while BSP's founder Kanshi Ram had said that a toilet should be built there, Singh recalled.

Questioning the Congress role during the demolition period, the SP leader said, "After only five per cent of the mosque was demolished, there was President's rule in UP. The balance 95 per cent of the mosque was demolished during President's Rule in the state when the Narasimha Rao government was at the Centre."

Strongly defending his alliance with Kalyan Singh, the SP leader argued that for the Babri mosque demolition "there are two co-accused, Congress-Central government and Kalyan Singh."

"If we are ready to shake hands with Congress, that too as an active partner ready to save government, ready to save their nuclear deal, why not shake hands with Kalyan Singh's ideology of opposing BJP," Singh said.

While saying that the Congress party has made him feel "absolutely unwanted and untouchable and they feel uncomfortable as I have a strong spinal cord and the culture of Congress is servility," Singh, however, said that he would not break the alliance with that party.

He claimed that he shared "not a close but a very beautiful and formal relationship with Sonia Gandhi and a warm rapport with Manmohan Singh... I don't think however that I have any great relationship left with Congress party".

On being asked whether the real reason behind his unwillingness to break the alliance was that without Congress, SP will collapse, Singh denied and said that "in politics you have to be pragmatic, realistic and smart so that blame game does not stop at your doorstep, it should end at the doorstep of Digvijay Singh".

The SP leader also dismissed that the seat sharing talks in UP and the CBI case against his party chief Mulayam Singh were the real reasons behind his bitterness with the party.

He added that he would try to outsmart the party "as there was nothing wrong in doing that".

Amar Singh by Rammohan on 20 Feb 2009

But he also knows afterall Congress party is Sonia plus Rahul baba. As long as he will not criticise them (Dr. Singh is not important) every other thing will be forgotten. There are lot of whipping boys in Congress to take the beating from all Lallus and Amar singh's. It seems they had learned this lesson from Karat or Yachury. Have you ever heard they criticise the madam. Mulayam once ditched Sonia and she will revenge like what she is now doing in Srilankan Tamils and Prabhakaran. They want Prabhakaran dead or alive. Mulayam is heading for the same roatsing at a later time.

Kalian Singh by C.B.Kumar on 15 Feb 2009

Issue of joining Kalyan Singh with SP has become a vote bank politics.I appeal to Muslims to come out in main stream and reject Cong and SP who are only intrested in your votes. Vote according to merit even if it is a BJP so that no body talk of Hindu or Muslim votes.A new and progresive leader is needed for Muslim comminity

Shame on all by Mat on 14 Feb 2009

Many messages in this forum is very crude and unbecoming of Indians and our culture. Forget about Amar Singh but you are talking about a widow whose husband was assassinated. Is this how our culture treat widows? or at the least women. Shame on you all.

The culture is very low...... by A.Kader on 18 Feb 2009

You are right, look at the level the Indian culture is!There is no question of shame. If there is any shame, people would not act like this.

Why bring culture into everything? by jas on 18 Feb 2009

Kader, keep you shame to youself and let people be little more honest than you are. Be ashamed now, you ought to be, as a true hypocritical lover of Indian culture .

Mat's Shame by Jas on 18 Feb 2009

You seem to have no intelligence to differentiate little comic relief from serious writing. Does word 'Satti' ring any bell in your puritanical head. Well this how your Indian culture treats widows.

Wheeler-dealer Amar by Hero Vaz on 14 Feb 2009

What a degrading relationship for Amar. But, I must say that, from being a petty wheeler-dealer, Amar has progressed politically and may soon harbour ambitions of being India's PM !!

In National Interest by Biswanath on 14 Feb 2009

For Amar Singh National Interset is upper most and while extending support to UPA Govt.(by buying MPs) and while inducting Kalyan Singh he said all this is being done in national interest. But, on the other hand he keeps harping on- Who opened luck of Babri Dhancha, who conducted Shilanyas, congress destroyed 95% of the Babri Dhancha etc. He can justify all his action for the sake of national interest. With so much of national interest flowing from Amar Singh, Abhisekh Manu must propose the name of Amar Singh along with Bush for Bharat Ratna.

dirty politics by kanchana on 14 Feb 2009

When will this cunning and shrewd politicians stop making use of religion to get votes. These politicians fight like dogs to get the power so that they can gather wealth and misuse the power for themselves. Can indians be saved from these parasites. These r the politicians who r making India weak. No wonder outsiders take great pleasure in showing the poverty of India to the world like the movie 'slumdog'.

AMAR by KUMAR on 14 Feb 2009

This power broker and his leader Mulyam Singh dosent have anybody else to form an alliance. The congress and the S.J.P are left with no other choice but to fight the elections together or else they and their party will be washed out from U.P after the elections .It is also a ploy by this power broker to stop the proceedings in the wealth case of his leader Mulyam by the C.B.I .He is sending in feelers to the grand old party for corruption in India that is the congress to somehow stop the C.B.I from proceeding further as if the C.B.I proceeds the political carrer if MULYAM,AMAR SINGH etc will come to an end .The people should not believe these jokers whose only aim is to fool the people and make money.
