“Some people died in the accident and others are going through pain in hospitals. Destiny had planned otherwise for my mother,” says Narsaya’s 54-year-old son P Avdhoot.
“She switched on the TV and said something after viewing the news reports. She died of a heart attack even before the report was over,” says Avdhoot. “I wish I could tell her Ravindra is alive. He will come home soon,” he says.
Burla was close to his grandmother and runs a tailoring shop near Avdhoot’s house in Gandhinagar, Worli.
Avdhoot said his mother remained confined to her room and followed a strict routine. “She kept herself busy with household chores and her interactions with Ravindra added some spice to her dull routine,” Avdhoot said.
He said: “Ravindra would chat about his daily activities with my mother. Maan ka gussa bahot tez tha, par uski baatein sunke thanda rehta tha (she was short-tempered but his talks kept her calm),” says Avdhoota.
Even as relatives and friends poured into Avdhoot’s house to offer condolences, he said his mother wasn’t a weak-hearted person.
“She survived a heart attack two years back. Woh kamzor dil ki nahin thi. Par is baar nahin seh payi (She didn’t have a weak heart but just couldn’t bear it only this time,” he said.
