IGNOU launches cyber law course

Kolkata, June 27 With cyber crime on the rise, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Friday launched a six-month PG certificate course in cyber law.

IGNOU has tied up with the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), which will act as the resource centre for the course.

“The objective is to enable a candidate acquire a critical understanding of cyber law and the emerging intellectual property rights,” said Pro Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, Omprakash Mishra.

The university will write to the Kolkata Police to inform them about the course, said Mishra. The course is designed for police officers, law professionals, software personnel, company secretaries and chartered accountants.

The course content for the programme will be available online for easy access.

Mishra said that IGNOU has launched a School of Law, which has developed the course on cyber law. In future, it will run courses on Diploma in Paralegal Education, Post-graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice.

“We have distributed about 14,000 forms for the course in the state till now,” said Sujit Ghosh, the regional director of IGNOU in West Bengal.

Ihave been to the regional office of IGNOU in kolkata on 23rd june to apply for the cyber law course for the july session 2009-2010 but there I came to know that the cyber law has been closed long back in kolkata is it true Iwant to apply plz help me.
