New Delhi Organisers of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji have come up with a unique contest to involve film lovers in rating top 20 feature films of Indian cinema and have innovatively named it T20.

Ten top filmmakers and 10 prominent critics from across the country will select the best 20 films from among the thousands made over the years.

The panel including Madhur Bhandarkar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Nagesh Kukunoor has been chosen by Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), the state body which co-hosts IFFI.

The initiative is part of a special contest commemorating the 40th edition of IFFI this year, in which any film lover from any part of the country can send in his or her list of 20 best-ever Indian films.

The judges will select their individual list of best 20 films and submit it in sealed envelopes to ESG. On November 29, an independent jury will open the envelopes at a special ceremony in Goa and tally these 20 lists to prepare a "master list" of 20 best-ever films.

From among the entries, 20 lucky winners, whose lists match the master list, will win special awards.

A special contest website www.t20ofindiancinema.com has also been launched. The portal has a suggested list of 100 best-ever films, from which one can choose his or her best 20. However, if anyone feels that any more films should be part of this suggested list, he or she can add that film to the list.
