New Delhi, January 8 CAT results were finally out but for around 80 per cent of the 40,000 aspirants from the city, the wait is still not over. The IIM website displaying scores and a list of selected students has crashed since the declaration and students had a tough time getting their results. Their only hope is the IIM-Ahmedabad website, which is accessible.

“With more than two lakh students accessing the websites at the same time, this was bound to happen. The websites will start working only after midnight,” said Arindham Lahiri, director of academics, Career Launcher.

Atul Srivastav, who lives in a hostel in Rohini, went to a cyber café as soon as the results were declared at 3 pm. For a whole hour he tried to access the website but couldn’t. When Newsline contacted him four hours later, he had still not received his result. “I am anxious and so is my family in Amritsar. They are calling me every hour to ask about my results,” he said.

The IIMs had launched an SMS service this year for students and academicians to access the results. Although it has benefited a lot of students, many haven’t got replies. Shivani Kaushik is one of them. This is the second time she has appeared for the exam and feels the pressure is very high. “I have repeatedly sent my registration number and date of birth but so far I have not received any reply,” she said.

And though Mudit Sharma was among the lucky few who received their results through the SMS service, he was still unsure. “I have scored 99.5 per cent but because I can’t find out about my ranking, I wont get any sleep tonight,” he said.

With 32 thousand students still waiting for results, he wouldn’t be the only one losing sleep.
