Kolkata, August 06 With Indian companies set to follow the accounting regulations of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) by April 2011, the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to train individuals in international accounting practices. The first five-day training module will be held at the institute in November.

Prof Ashok Banerjee of IIM-C said: “The training will help three categories of professionals —- who prepare financial statement of companies, auditors and Chartered Accountants, and corporate executives who are on the board of governors of a company.”

IIM-C Dean, Saibal Chattopadhyay said, “Our institute is considered as one of the best IIMs in the field of finance and several companies are reaching out to us for training programmes.”

“Our joint papers with the IIM-C on the best finance practices in India will combine PwC’s thought leadership and the research and training expertise of the IIM-C,” said Kaushik Dutta, PwC national leader for IFRS.

The two institutions will also develop the concept papers on various IFRS-related technical matters and industry-related issues through joint research.
