Kolkata, June 19 To keep pace with the changing business environment, the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C), has revamped its curriculum. All compulsary courses for the Post Graduate Diploma programme have been assigned for the first year and all optional courses for the second year, said Dean Saibal Chattopadhyay.

“ The students had to study compulsary papers in both years and did not get a chance to concentrate on optional papers,” a teacher said.

The change has been made assesing the situation and requirments of the students. There have been some changes in curriculum in 2002 and 2004 but it is a major revamp this year.

A compulsory paper on Business Ethics has been started. Besides, there are two compulsary courses on communication — one module will comprise oral communication and the other written communication.

The institute is also offering new courses in Strategy , Finance , Behavioural sciences and Management Information System.

Three streams — sociology , regional development and environmental sciences — have come together and will offer interdisciplinary courses.
