Kolkata, April 13 The four students of IIT-Kharagpur have come up with a new venture of web-based “learning management sysytem’, called Intinno Technologies.

Joy Deep Nath, Mayank Jain, Arpit Jain and Udit Sajjanhar are pursuing a dual degree programme and have come up with this project on their own.

The venture will provide an opportunity to the students from the ordinary institutes to benefit from those studying in premier educational institutions. The idea is to upload the lectures given by the faculty of premier institutes, which can be accessed by students of other institutes after paying a license fee.

“We joined the institute hoping to get high-paying jobs, but a few years down the line after interacting with the alumni we thought of doing something different, “said Joy Deep Nath.

The institute has also provided them help by giving them an office, a server and a bandwidth to upload the course contents.

“We started at the beginning of the semester and by now we have uploaded 25-30 courses starting from financial management to artificial intelligence. There is an excitement at the institute about the initiative,” said Nath.

Highlighting the motive of the venture, Nath said, “In IITs we get the best education possible, funded with taxpayers’ money. This initiative will not generate profit for us but enable us to give back to the society.”

The four have opted deferred placement programme, introduced by IIT Khahragpur this year to complete their project, under which they will be allowed to opt out of the placement process this year and can appear for the same after one or two years.

“The fact that some students have benefited from the deferred placements this year, is important for the institute and in future we expect more students to join the league,” said Prof B K Mathur, the placement in charge of the institute.

Even the students who are busy in their project feel that the programme has provided them a security.

“We come from middle class families and have to deal with the expectations of our parents. This alternative has given us the security in case the venture does not work out,” said Nath.
