Chandigarh, March 13 The UT Department of Information Technology has been recommended for ISO-9001:2000 certification by Moody ICL Certifications Ltd. The department is also in the process of obtaining the International Environmental Management Systems Certification (ISO-14001:2004) for the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park.

The ISO-14000 certification is primarily concerned with the environmental management. If the department manages to get this certification, it would further help the UT Administration to put the technology park on international map.

UT Adviser to the Administrator Pradip Mehra today assured that the administration is fully committed for the promotion of information technology in UT and all necessary support would be provided to departments in implementing the e-Governance projects. He further emphasised that other departments should also strive hard for providing quality management to the people.

UT Finance Secretary-cum- IT Secretary Sanjay Kumar stated that the ISO 9001:2000 certification is an international brand that symbolises the image of an organisation in terms of quality management. He added that the ISO 9000 certification has become an international reference for quality management in business dealings as well as internal and external operations of an organisation.

UT Director (Information Technology) Manjit Brar attributed the recommendation to the hard work and sincere efforts put in by the staff of the UT Administration. He added that the services that are being provided by the department would be more efficient, prompt and people-friendly. Naveen Kaushal and Sushil of Moody ICL Certifications Ltd conducted the audit.
