Noida, February 15 The Income Tax department on Friday raided over 20 places in Noida, including the homes of at least 12 property dealers and many other businessmen in various sectors of the city. However, the officials are tight-lipped about the outcome of the raids.

Noida police were informed about the locations that would be raided at 6 am. Within half an hour I-T teams had covered many sectors in the city along with the Noida police.

According to sources, the first house raided was that of a property dealer Anand in Sector-44. The team entered the house about 6.30 am and after locking the doors, they searched for documents relating to Anand’s property deals and his assets. After this, they raided houses in Sectors 15A and 62.

Senior officers of the Noida police said adequate security and other arrangements were made for the I-T officials to carry out the raids. The teams had also been sent to Ghaziabad and the police, who were not informed about the raids, just managed to make arrangements in time, said officials.

Sources said tax evasions worth crores of rupees have been detected and the axe will fall on many businessmen and property dealers.
