I-T tribunal official arrested in graft case

Kolkata, May 14 The CBI’s anti-corruption branch arrested a senior official of the Income-Tax Apellate Tribunal while accepting bribe from a law firm at his residence in Central Kolkata on Wednesday. According to CBI officials, besides the official, three more persons have been arrested for offering the bribe.

DIG (ACB) Anil Palta said that Jugal Kishore, an accountant member with the tribunal, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 30 lakhs from the representatives of one S K Tulsian and Co.

“Kishore was staying in a Type-VI government accommodation at the Nizam Palace and we had been tracking his movements for some time. Kishore had been accepting bribes from the firm for a series of ‘favours’, the details of which are not known as yet,” said Palta.

He added that the accused will remain in police custody till May 19 and CBI expects to extract more information during interrogation.
