If Mulayam was bad, Mayawati is worse: Cong

New Delhi, December 31: "If Mulayam was bad, Mayawati is worse," was the terse remark from UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi, signalling that patience was wearing thin for Congress in dealing with the BSP.

With the BSP turning out a spoiler in several states, Congress is no longer treating Mayawati with kidgloves, especially in Uttar Pradesh, and the party has planned a number of rallies in January to take the battle to her Government.

"If Mulayam was bad, Mayawati is worse. Her Government has not delivered on any front, be it law and order, electricity or farmers' issues," Joshi told reporters.

"Both are castiest and anti-social. Both have supported the wrong kind of people and contributed to deterioration of the law and order. Both are detached from people's woes and are power-hungry," she said.

The party has planned a major rally in Bundelkhand on January 17 to be addressed by AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and it would focus on the problems of the drought-hit farmers of the region.
