Adelaide, February 16: Out of form Yuvraj Singh will come out of the ‘worst crisis’ in his career and will soon silence his detractors by rediscovering his form, asserts his mother Shabnam Singh.

"I can sense seeing him there (Australia) that he is feeling very low and I have never seen this Yuvraj. He is under so much stress that he was complaining of migraine a week back. Whenever he is cornered he bounces back. It is his trait, Yuvi will be back," declares Shabnam who left Australia after spending a week with her son.

Shabnam was beside her son to share the ‘extreme lows’ and the ‘trauma’ which she said was never quite understood by media and public at large.

"This is surely one of the roughest phase of his career especially considering he went to Australia on a great high," she bemoaned.

Yuvraj has had a disastrous run in the Tests series against Australia and ODIs are proving no better but Shabnam, a zonal level basketball player herself in her prime, backs her son to the hilt to rediscover his old touch in the coming week, and thereafter.

"He is mentally very strong. He wants to do well and is trying his best. I'm sure he will learn from it and also come out stronger."

As a kid, Shabnam says, Yuvraj always wanted to do well against Pakistan and Australia.

Yuvraj tore Pakistan attack to shreds in Bangalore two months ago but Australia has been another story.

"As a kid, he always wanted to do well against Pakistan and Australia. He’d tell all of us (in the family) 'this (tour to Australia) is the biggest challenge since the World Cup'. After the high of six sixes and the Twenty20 triumph, there were lofty expectations from him. Sometimes, these expectations can work against an individual."

Shabnam said Yuvraj would do everything to keep himself fit and keep in a positive frame of mind.

"On off days, he'd follow the yoga and exercise regimen that is given to him. He does special exercise to strengthen his knee, watch some movies, surf on the net, talk to his friends and relax."

But, his scores of 2, 0, 5, 12 and 0 in his last five Test innings and 2, 3 and 6 in ODIs has left him distraught.

Things got aggravated with reports questioning his attitude and commitment towards the team's cause, though Shabnam rubbishes all of them.

"All this is baseless. He is a complete team man. He is upset even if he scores and the team loses. Allegations like these have given him a lot of pain," says Shabnam.

Yuvraj's string of low scores have also opened his personal life to scrutiny with his alleged affair with a rising film star doing rounds.

"I don't understand why people are bothered about what he does in his life away from the field. He is a human being first then a cricketer and he will do things that normal people do. I'll be very happy if people leave Yuvi alone and judge him by what he does on the field," she signs off.

Drop Yuvi and send him to his mom! by Indian Fan on 17 Feb 2008

Yuvi must be dropped from the team. It was done after his miserable 4 innnings in the first 2 Tests and rest was history. India won the next, and drew the last one. We need to do the same in one-day too. Please drop him and send him home to his mom!

Mom, keep your son at home! by Dileep on 17 Feb 2008

Where was this mom when his son was pampered with posh car and all riches when he performed well? Why did she not ask the people to stop and leave him alone? Like everywhere, whether it is office or movie business, good performance will be rewarded and bad ones criticized. If the kitchen is too hot, Yuvi is welcome to leave. There are hundreds of Indians to take his place right away. Mom, you can have your son at your home. We don't need him.

Greedy mom! by Jolly on 17 Feb 2008

Yuvi is a disater to himself and to the Indian cricket. Past deeds do not help. If that is the case, Kapil and Ravi Shastri should be in the team. Earlier this month Yuvi talked about this team being the best team (poking insult to the Seniors like Dada and Dravid who had been dropped). I think by dropping Yuvi, the team will be even better. His mother can have all the time with her beloverd son. Why his mother kept quiet when so much money and gifts were showered on him for his performance in T-20? Why she did not ask people to leave him alone then? Greedy mom!!

Shabbo ji take Yubi home with you, and change his diapers by Gong Lee on 17 Feb 2008

Shabbo ji, should a person with migraine be even in a national team? Why is he shamelessly wasting our money? Why did he not go back hiding his face in your lap instead of wasting everyone's time?

Yuvraj's form by Prathap Chithapuram on 17 Feb 2008

It is ridiculous to say that Robin Uthappa has to be dropped. He is made to come at position 6 or 7 and team needs quick scoring with being set as a batsman. So it is not his fault that he does not get chances to bat longer. How about dropping Yuvraj and sending Robin in his spot as anybody score less than 5 runs. Even I do that. ALso even ridiculous thing is that Yuvi's mom is asking the media to leave him alone. When Yuvi was being glorified during good times, I did not see her complaining. So grow up and Yuvi is an adult and he should be able take both accolades and criticism as it is being thrown at him. Irfan and Manoj get to bat earlier than Robin and have not done anything. So, please send Robin higher up in the order and he will deliver.

Yuvraj Singh by HotShot on 17 Feb 2008

After his regular run of poor scores, in all forms of the game, Yuvraj needs to be rested. Robin Uthapa should sit this one out, too. Manoj Tiwary and Suresh Raina should play. But please, NO DINESH KARTHIK. It is hard to fathom to wicket-keepers doing duty in the same game, albeit Aussies have done it too, by playing Gilchrist and Haddin.

none by sunny on 17 Feb 2008

Yuvi should depend on his ability. though family members are very important specially mother, but yuvi should know that he is not child now. i simply believe that he is in the team because of this jharkhandi who want to play with the carreer of RD and dada. why only yuvi, what this dhoni is doing there?

Too much money, no responsibilty by Kiran on 16 Feb 2008

Indian cricket fans will be be very happy if BCCI people leave Yuvi alone and out of BCCI. Mother is crazy with tonnes of money with no responsibilty.

Poor mom's guy by Moni Mohan on 16 Feb 2008

Even Dipika has lost interest in Yuvi and started dating with Ranbir after Dipika visited Sydney test and watched Yuvi out a first ball duck. She knows now the calibre of Yuvi.

Ask Yuvi to retire from cricket by Sujit on 16 Feb 2008

Dear Mom Shabnam,People will leave your Yuvi alone, once he retires from Indian team. Ask him to retire like Shaun Tait, then public will lose interest in him. But when he is in the team, taking part in every game, without any performance either with bat or in field while more in form and capable players like Raina and Tiwari are waiting in the bench, people has every right to question.

Agree by Prem Shankar on 16 Feb 2008

public money = public interest

cricket, politics and nepotism by keshav ranganath on 16 Feb 2008

Like the saying goes 'he has a face only a mom could love' is very true with Yuvraj. Till now it was his father talking through his you know what and now his mom? Yes, we should leave Yuvraj alone alright, out of cricket to give him a break to make a good come back. Not sure why the freaking media gives any damn about the sportsman's parents. They should just concentrate only on the talent and form and that is what matters in a win. We as Indians have too much ego and that is what brings us down very badly, not to mention Yuvraj. These guys are paid like heroes and they should behave like one.

deepika by cricketlover on 16 Feb 2008

ONLY DEEPIKA CAN CORRECT HIM,NOT HIS MUMMY.SEND DEEPIKA TO AUS TO BE BY THE SIDE OF YUVI .BCCI SHOULD MAKE URGENT ARRANGEMENT.

Stop publishing such statements by Prem on 16 Feb 2008

I will be happy if people leave yuvi out of the indian cricket team. It is time for media to stop publishing stupid remarks made by family members of cricketers. A fter all they are always going to back their kins no matter what the situation may be.

Ma Ki Badduwa Haha by Moin on 16 Feb 2008

I agree with prem. Media should stop publishing the opinion of the family members. They wouldn,t say the same thing when people praise him and when he is busy doing ads. When it comes to hiding yuvi looks for Ma ki Pallo
