"In my life, I have always looked to Mahatma Gandhi as an inspiration, because he embodies the kind of transformational change that can be made when ordinary people come together to do extraordinary things," he wrote in a yet to be published article in the ethnic India Abroad newspaper.
"That is why his portrait hangs in my Senate office; to remind me that real results will not just come from Washington, they will come from the people," he said in the article, excerpts of which were provided in a write-up on Friday.
That is why, he said, "I am proud to have the longstanding support of so many Indian Americans in all aspects of my campaign (for party nomination for the post of the President), as well as the endorsements of leading elected Indian American lawmakers."

Obama (rightly) takes teachings of Mahatma Gandhi with a pinch of salt. He has also been quoted as saying that while he likes some philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi, he cannot follow them all in today's context.
The nobel prize committee is not stupid, not to award the peace prize to this person. Gandhi was the racist of all, he did not fight for the blacks when in south africa, instead he choose to fight for the fanatic couw pee drinker of india where there were getting the taste of their own medicine. In scandinavian countries he is regarded as one of the most racist person ever to come out of india. Most indians are conditioned since their childhood to worship him as the father of nation, as india is mostly dominated by hindus which have discriminatory habits rampent against minorities and casta based systems.
