‘Improve standard of farm sector’

Chandigarh, January 24 The Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) celebrated its Foundation Day on Thursday. Many events were organised.

Prof Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, delivered the Foundation Day lecture. He spoke on the topic ‘Does R and D Hold any Promise for Indian Agriculture’.

Prof Pental said that the growth of agricultural sector is needed to improve living standards in India and was also necessary to feed a growing population. He also spoke about the sad state of Indian agriculture.

IMTECH director Dr Girish Sahni presented the annual report of the institute. He mentioned that the institute’s achievements in various spheres is being recognised at the national and international level also. He also mentioned the growth of business driven research in IMTECH.

The function was presided over by former Director, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi.
