Two mobile teams have been assigned duties for inspection, review and repair of facilities at the 207 tubewells, six rainy wells, 39 overhead tanks, 38 underground storage tanks and 38 Ganga water storage tanks in the city.
The Authority has already kicked off the chlorination water treatment system, officials said.
With consumption expected to go up to 44 million litres per hour during summers as against the present 30 million, Authority officials say supply is sufficient and all machinery has been updated, including the generators and pumps at all stations.
However, sources say the present capacity of 278 MLD the city could fall short by 40-50 MLD during peak demand months.
And, as the Ganga water pipeline project gets delayed, officials of the pollution control department have suggested supplying water from the Hindon River.
Officials say water from the river has reached required levels of safety for consumption in households. Tests showed the safety levels were close to the norms for treatment and use in households, officials of the Uttar Pradesh State Pollution Control Board said.
