Kolkata, August 13 The state government is preparing a blueprint to ensure the security of the Tata Motors’ small car project site in Singur in view of the Trinamool’s proposed indefinite strike from August 24.

On Wednesday, state Home Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakrabarti visited the plant. “The government will take action against those who resort to violence at the project site. FIRs will be lodged against them,” said Chakrabarti. The Trinamool has threatened to block around 21 junctures around the project site.

Chakrabarti was in Singur to take stock of the law and order situation prevailing in the villages surrounding the project site.

He held a high-level meeting with officials of Tata Motors, West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), senior police officers including Director General of Police A B Vohra, IG (Western Range) Kuldip Singh, SP (Hooghly), DIG (Burdwan) and the district magistrate.

Asked about Trinamool’s decision to launch an indefinite dharna, Chakrabarti said: “Everyone has a right to conduct a peaceful movement. Action will be taken only if there is deterioration in the law and order situation. We have deployed sufficient police force to deal with any untoward incident.”

Apart from police personnel being stationed at key areas in and around the plant, police officers and Rapid Action Force personnel will also be deployed outside the project site.

Chakrabarti added that stern action will be taken if employees are threatened or prevented from entering the plant. “No procession will be allowed in front of the entrance of the project site. Soon, no one without identity cards will be allowed inside the plant. Makeshift tea stalls and eateries inside the plant will also be shifted,” said the home secretary.

Recently, there was a high exodus of labourers from the project area, reportedly due to threats by members of the Singur Krishi Jomi Raksha Committee.

But attendance of workers has gone up in the last couple of days. Chakrabarti said 65.5 per cent workers had come to work on Tuesday.

The measures
* No procession will be allowed in front of the entrance of the project site.
* No one without identity cards will be allowed inside the plant
* Makeshift tea stalls and eateries inside the project area will also be shifted
* Apart from police personnel being stationed at key areas in and around the plant
* Police officers and Rapid Action Force personnel to be deployed outside the project site
