New Delhi, March 12 Despite the Delhi Jal Board’s discussions with the Chief Secretary and the Haryana Irrigation department for release of adequate Yamuna water to keep the Wazirabad pond full as per directions of the Supreme Court in 1996, the release of water has not been sufficient, officials said. The DJB had also requested the Central Water Commission and the Upper Yamuna River Board to intervene. However, there was no increase reported at releases at Munak Escape. The inadequate water has led to reduction in production at the Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants by 30 to 50 per cent. Currently, water supply from both plants is being made available only once a day instead of twice.
