Pune, August 22 Income tax sleuths on Friday swooped down on the offices of Kolte-Patil Developers Ltd (KPDL) and residences of its officials. The developer’s offices in Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore are being searched and it is likely to continue for three days.

IT officers refused to give details about the seizures or the reason behind the raids. Senior officers said that 11 sites were being raided in the three cities. Incidentally, 10 years ago KPDL had faced a similar crackdown.

In Pune, the raids took place on the group’s office on Dhole Patil Road and a residence at Koregaon Park. KPDL’s headquarters is in Pune and also develops commercial and residential projects in Bangalore. It even set up an overseas operation in Dubai recently.

A spokesperson for the company played down the raids. “It is a regular IT opation and we are fully cooperating with authorities. However, it will be premature to speak about it now. We are responsible corporate citizens with great regard for the law of the land. In the past we have abided by all the set rules and regulations, and we will continue to do so in the future.” Over the years it has developed projects across 5 million square feet, its ventures including townships, IT parks and SEZs.
