This is one designer who isn’t mouthing the usual lines about breaking into the international fashion market. For the upcoming fashion week, Delhi designer Vijay Arora has decided to stick to what he does best: traditional feminine ensembles with delicate workmanship. Arora’s style may not be too out of the box, however, he has a steadily growing clientele who come to him for a particular look. “I am working strictly in the domestic market so I’m not following international trends for my show,” explains Arora. Instead, Arora plans to have moms with their kids walk the ramp in his collection that has 12 saris, Jodhpur jeans with shirts and salwar-kameezes. “I’ve created clothes for people who aren’t teenagers or even anorexic adults. They are for those who like to remain fit and look real,” smiles Arora. Some garments are embellished with jewel-toned sapphires in a dull colour palette of blue, beige and maroon. Clearly the highight of Arora’s show will be the yummy mummies on the ramp.
