Akram said the Aussies were "sore losers" and that Hayden should have known that India was now hundred years ahead of Australia "which is no more than a village".
"The thing about the Aussies is that they are sore losers. They get personal when they get beaten. It is all a matter of sour grapes and after going home, they've started calling India a third-world country", said Akram.
"India is a superpower now; it is a hundred years ahead of Australia, which is no more than a village, as compared to India. You don't blame sightscreens for poor over rates. Even Allan Border was critical of Australian tactics on the pitch," Akram said.
Akram's stinging reaction came a day after the BCCI reacted strongly to Hayden's remark, saying such a comment about India was totally uncalled for from the Australian opener.
Back home after the 2-0 series defeat, Hayden spoke about, what he perceived, poor ground conditions and inordinate delays during the matches "that happen in Third World countries".
"This was a completely uncalled for remark by him. A player of his stature should not have made the comment," BCCI's Finance Committee Chairman Rajiv Shukla had said on Friday.
"If slow-over rate is your habit, why blame India for that and call India third world? We are a very prestigious nation and it was not a nice comment by him," Shukla said.
Hayden made a list of things which he felt resulted in Australia's slow over-rates in the series against India. He alleged the Indian batsmen were reluctant to "face up" quickly enough and there was constant movement around sightscreens.
"They (opposition batsmen) are very difficult to get to face up," Hayden said. "Often we find ourselves with hands on hips waiting for someone to either face up or someone in the sightboard to move away; all the little frustrations that happen in Third World countries and the heat as well," he added.

The Problem lies with ignorance including Wasim Akram. All these readers think that third world is third rate. That is not so. India is amongst the third world countries. There is nothing we can do about it
Loosers Crib... but then this bugger will be returing back to play in IPL and earn money in a third world country. Australians were criminal and they will always remain criminal.
I THANK AND APPRECIATE WASIM AKRAM FOR HIS BLOD CRITICISM AGAINST HAYDEN.
It's a typically Aussie attitude problem which after all these years still seems to retain some traces of who their forefathers were. Hey buddie, you are the ones who committed genocide of the aboriginal people and did very little compared with what the Canadians did to redress such crimes. And send a probe to the moon first even with all the resources that shored your economy from the Japanse, the Chineseand
Kudos to Wasim....who can be a better ambassador for India-Pakistan friendship than our Akram bhai.... Mr. wasim Akarm, you are held in high esteem by all the Indians...
Shukriya Wasim - shukriya. I feel proud to be a fan of yours.
Hayden or any other player of any country has never complained about the sight screen at lords which is the smallest ever.
These guys will NOT play in Pakistan citing terrorism but will play in India because of greenpacks. Just donot selecct Hayden for IPL and see his reaction.
Well said Akram. When ever a team has a habit to won the matches and series and suddenly they lost the series like 2-0 against India in India. I saw although they won lot of test and one-days matches but they always give a tough match by India. They never won a single match against India in last 7-8 years easily. They always have frustration that is seen when India when to Australia in visit. This frustration is now irrupted by Methew Hyden. This all the frustration which have in their mind. That is why I like Richard Hadlee who came in India once in his career and then say I will not come to Indian subcontinent because here the pitches is not suitable for fast ballers. So, If you (Hyden) would like the subcontinent, don't come to the subcontinent any more.
Hayden is more than happy to come to the third world country to make money. He must be banned from coming to India as he has disrespected the entire nation. Australian Cricket Board should apologize to us...
Kudos Akram.
A real eye opener, keep it up!
If India is a third world country, Hayden should not come here to play in the Champion's league. But the huge sum he gets overrides everything. Money makes the mare go. Hayden will positively deny the remark as the start of the Champion's league approaches.Hayden like most of his other colleagues is a hypocrite.
It's funny a beggar(Mathew Hayden) who begs from a third world (According to hayden) country(playing 20-20 cricket for a sum) comments about it.
Very well said Mr Akram. Most competitive people can't accept defeat and they try to find excuses. This has what has happened to Australia. They should, instead, learn a lesson from their mistakes. They definitely need some training in being able to conduct themselves after defeat. They do not look like the same team any longer. Their bat and ball doesn't "talk". Only their tongue is "active".
I have said what i had to say.
If you find the streets dirty and your municipality is doing nothing about it, then a suggestion to you which Lions Club in Mumbai used to organise some years ago which was to clean up the streets. You can do the same bring your community members together and take a broom and start the cleaning job.
The Country is not "third world", but the comments are "third rated"
EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD KNOWS AUSTRALIA WIN THE MATCHES IN THEIR HOME GROUND BY PLAYING WITH 13 PLAYERS INSTEAD OF 11. WHEN THEY CANT WIN IN OTHER COUNTRIES..................THEY MAKE ALL THE EXCUSE........... RIGHT NOW EVEN BANGALDESH CAN WIN THE MATCH AGAINST SO CALL AUSTRALIA.
Wasim Akram had always been my favourite bowler... Always and is still IS....
The real root cause for slow over rate by Australian cricketers is the frequent and unnecessary meetings that Ricky Ponting holds with the bowlers and fellow cricketers during the proceedings of the match. Every time the opposition batsman hits a boundary or a six he goes for consultation with his bowler and fielders and then changes the field. This leads to the slow over rate by Australians and has nothing to do with the Third world. This certainly was not the issue with previous visitng teams. During those years the main issue was water and now that they are being served with mineral water they want to raise some other non-cricketing issues which are irrelavant to the Auusies defeat in India or their slow over rate. Having said this, isn't it true that one of the ex-king of Rajasthan used to take full load of Ganga Jal in metal containers for his overseas trips. This container can still be seen in the Jaipur Palace. Time for Hayden to change and play cricket and not politics.
hayden, time and again proved that he is not physically fit for the game and now proving as neither mentally fit too. what does he think of australia, super power?? ha! ha!! ha!!!
Hats off to Wasim, Let us join hands and make sub-continent a powerful continent and show the world what we are capabale of. Shame on you Hayden. Do not step in the sub-continent again if little self-respect is still left in you.
Well, it is very rich coming from Hayden that Indian batsmen take a long time to "face up" and keep the bowlers waiting at the start of their run-ups. Actually, Mr. Hayden himself was the worst culprit indulging in this very practice whn Pak visited Aus in 2004,and even the Aussie commentators were irked by this show of bad sportsmanship by Hayden who repeatedly made Shoaib Akhtar wait after getting ready to bowl.
Firstly Mathew you are so foolish
