Akram said the Aussies were "sore losers" and that Hayden should have known that India was now hundred years ahead of Australia "which is no more than a village".
"The thing about the Aussies is that they are sore losers. They get personal when they get beaten. It is all a matter of sour grapes and after going home, they've started calling India a third-world country", said Akram.
"India is a superpower now; it is a hundred years ahead of Australia, which is no more than a village, as compared to India. You don't blame sightscreens for poor over rates. Even Allan Border was critical of Australian tactics on the pitch," Akram said.
Akram's stinging reaction came a day after the BCCI reacted strongly to Hayden's remark, saying such a comment about India was totally uncalled for from the Australian opener.
Back home after the 2-0 series defeat, Hayden spoke about, what he perceived, poor ground conditions and inordinate delays during the matches "that happen in Third World countries".
"This was a completely uncalled for remark by him. A player of his stature should not have made the comment," BCCI's Finance Committee Chairman Rajiv Shukla had said on Friday.
"If slow-over rate is your habit, why blame India for that and call India third world? We are a very prestigious nation and it was not a nice comment by him," Shukla said.
Hayden made a list of things which he felt resulted in Australia's slow over-rates in the series against India. He alleged the Indian batsmen were reluctant to "face up" quickly enough and there was constant movement around sightscreens.
"They (opposition batsmen) are very difficult to get to face up," Hayden said. "Often we find ourselves with hands on hips waiting for someone to either face up or someone in the sightboard to move away; all the little frustrations that happen in Third World countries and the heat as well," he added.

Please Sir! Learn to beat India and then you can comment about India and its citizens. Those who are boasting of world champions ,getting beaten up in their own backyard does not have any ethical advantage of bragging as cricket superpower.
The present set of Australians are always like this...They are a set of arrogant players under a arrogant captain...they think that sleding is their birthright and whatever they say we should listen....a bunch of selfish and ungraceful players.....
This is what you expect from a nation built by thugs and thieves bundled away for far ashores? Poor tolerence. Lack of gentleman behavior
It seems Hayden is not Australian atal! He along with his mate Ponting have really tarnished the image of Australia in world cricket. Before them all Australian crickers were having great respect in India. Now if they think India is third world country then I would suggest to their Queen of England to return everything they stole from India during 300 years of intrusion in our affairs.India is self respecting nation.I would also advise Hayden to brush up his general knowledge.India is ahead of Australia in science and technology...see our space program for instant.India is self sufficient.it is supporting 1billion people without licking US feet unlike Australia.Wasim Akram rmarks showed that India and Pakistan are brothers........which are no more estranged
Very well said Akram. You are a true cricketer and your observation is more valid than Aussies or Indians because you are opining from neutral chair almost like a judge. Atleast Warne will not agree with Haydan because India has given him such a golden opportunity in his life to prove himself as captain which Aussies has never considered him for leading their country! I am sure many of the Aussies may not internally agree with Haydan.Ofcourse whole world knows about the dirty tricks of some Aussies
Well said Akram! ... I wonder where all the indian cricketers are...how come there was no comments from any of them in support of our country... are they busy earning money on TV and fashion shows?!
The concept of 3rd world emerged during the 50's when asian countries icluding India, China were not technologically and industrially advanced . India is ten times more advanced in technology as compared to Australia. Third world concept is no longer befitting to India and China.
Thanks Wasim, thats how it should be we (indians
Ok, you can blame Hayden for his unfriendly remarks and blaming others for the Aussie team's loss of the series. But India is still a third world country and why can't our politicians work to make it to the first world. Look at the traffic situation and powercut in Chennai and it suburbs. Looks we are in the fifth world !!
India is a third world country. The western World is considered one groupThe communists were considered another and all the developing countries are considered third world world. Take it or Lump it. India is a third world country and it will remain like that for many more years to come.
Hayden is not at home with himself. He is afraid of losing. A weak man always projects his losses to the grounds of others, and wins as personal achievements. Whether it is about Cricket or any matter in life, it is not of humanly. He needs to mature in this aspect. For a while it has become a habit of Australians. Akram has rightly pointed out things. I think we must stop Hyden and others who make such unreflected remarks entering to our nation again. It can only be of help to them by avoiding them to get another humiliation in view of their silly comments. Hayden has probably guitly feelings for his loss. Such superiotity complexes arise actually from inferior cells. God forgive Hayden.
We should not forget the history of so called 'Australians' civilization. During 1770 to 1800, the Britishers used this secluded island (Australia) to sent the convicts. Thousands and thousands of convicts were sent for lifelong imprisonment in this island. And that’s how today's Matthew Hayden's 'first world' country evolved.... Before we hear any comments we should not forget their history.
Hayden is just exhibiting his anscetory. I believe all of you know that the whites in Australia descendend from a penal colony. You cannot expect much more from criminals.

Afrcia falls into the group of third world country while India and China are classified as developing country. Take your horns elsewhere.
HEY MR HAYDEN PLZ RESPECT A COUNTRY THAT HAS DEFEATED NOT ONLY U BUT ALSO A COUNTRY WHICH U REPRESENT, PLZ TAKE THIS DEFEAT IN PRIDE N NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE UR OPPONENT, THEY WILL COME AFTER U TILL U DEPART FROM THIS PEACE LOVING COUNTRY.
Well said Wasim! Thanks fo your support. As as far as hayden is concerned , his comments show his lack of intelligence. Also aussies are known for their foul mouth . They even call Indians SHIT STAIN and SHIT FACED as the Indians have brown skin. Totally uncouth remarks by Hayden who should be banned from playing international sports.
Dear Indians ,Be proud that we are putting money in begging bowls of Hayden and the Aussies like in IPL.If I am an Administrator of IPL will ban Hayden for the comments he made and make sure he wil never get the 300,000 $ from the so called Third world country.
NO DOUBT HAYDEN HAS IDENTIFIED HIMSELF, POOR HAYDEN HE MUST ALSO HAVE FOUND INDIAN BUTTER TO SLIPPERY FOR HIS DROPPED CATCHES AND POOR FIELDING WHICH WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AUS LOOSING THE TESTS.OVER HON'BLE MATCH REFEREE ALSO WAS WATCHING THE AUS PEELING THE BALL LIKE AUSTRALIAN ORANGE AND NO ACTION AND NO BALL TAMPERING. IT IS TIME ACB TAKES ACTION FOR SUCH UNWARRANTED COMMENT AGAINST A COUNTRY, FIRST IT WAS AGAINST AN INDIVIDUAL AND NOW AGAINST THE WHOLE COUNTRY. BCCI SHOULD MOVE ICC TO BAN HAYDEN FOR ONE SEASON.
What is wrong with all you guys...INDIA IS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY..whats wrong with that statement ..please don't overreact.
ozzies are in a state of denial more likely state of shock and cannot accept the fact that they have been defeated. Australia is a third world country where people are arrogant, uncouth and abusive as well as being penniless.I am an Indian first then anything else.
Hey Hayden - We understand your bad mouthing India - it is quite natural - after all most of the Euro-Australians, like you are descendents of loosers
Hayden has made damaging comments - But BCCi will reward him with a million dollar IPl contract - same happened, when Shoaibh Akhtar called sachin as his bunny - sachin has hammered the hell out of shoaib but shoaib still got selected by Sah Rukh Khan, his cousin in IPLwhen will India learn patriotism -
Hayden's comments are not un australian They are very much australian becos that is what ozzies think of India.
Hey, Haydos! This is becoming a case of the kettle calling the pot black mate. You guys in Australia don't have a public policy for 25 million people mate. It's unbecoming of a player of your stature to comment on the world's largest democracy and that too, with little or no knowledge of economics and the polity. Look's like cynicism is getting the better of yourself and Mr Gilchrist.
