We hope to enlist your help for the Af/Pak strategy. Therefore, India is an important actor in South Asia and may be of some use. Kashmir is the sticking point that is prevent us from achieving our goals for Af/Pak. The Security Council seat will not likely be on the table unless Kashmir is fully resolved.
We don't want these sugar-coated words from US. We want India to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
If India is significant actor, why it is not permananent member of UN with veto power? Saying India is great and even greater is not good enough. Words need to be translated into actions now. WIth billion plus population, largest democracy, belieft in co-existence in all has not been good enough to have a say for India in IMF, WTO, UN. Therefore, the words do not mean anything at all , in fact to some people it may be rubbing salt on the wounds!
