With Obama and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pushing Pakistan hard to fully cooperate with India in the ongoing probe into the attacks, the President-elect said his administration will remain steadfast in support of India's efforts to catch the perpetrators of the strikes and bring them to justice.
"And I expect that the world community will feel the same way," he said while announcing at a news conference in Chicago that Hillary Clinton will be his Secretary of State.
Obama said he expected Islamabad to fully cooperate with New Delhi in the investigations.
Asked if India has the right to ‘take out’ high-value targets inside Pakistan, Obama said, "I think that sovereign nations, obviously, have a right to protect themselves’.
Obama had drawn criticism during the campaign including from Hillary Clinton when he said the US would be justified in pursuing al-Qaida terrorists in Pakistan if it had ‘actionable intelligence’.
"Beyond that, I don't want to comment on the specific situation that's taking place in South Asia right now. I think it is important for us to let the investigators do their jobs and make a determination in terms of who was responsible for carrying out these heinous acts," the President-elect said.
Ahead of her visit to New Delhi on Wednesday ,Rice at a Round Table in London refused to speculate on how the government of India will respond but said it is ‘incumbent’ on Pakistan to realise the seriousness of what has happened. Rice also wanted Islamabad to fully cooperate with the probe.

Dear Sir,As per my point of view terrorist comes from pakistan..But history of India is they always catch terrorist when they comes to India.My question is why they are not trying to catch them in pakistan.There numbers is not more.just some effort is needed by our leader..why India is showing quietness..if they (terrorist) is not thinking good then why we think good for them..another thing i want to suggest that if India catch them then encounter immediatly..if they do not encounter then after some time they will hijack something and harf in future to relive them.. so enemy should by killed by us immediatly then other terrorist will take lesson from us that what can happen it they will do some thin..right now they are thinking India will not do anything even if they do everything. so please put my messege there whery all leader can see..thanking u...
when terriost attacked in USA what they America did .they destroyed the route of terisim by attacking afganstan.in case of india the main route is pakistan.so plz go and attack pakistan strait.Becoz pakistan is a country of terriost and drakulawith lot more begar.
As posted by Obama, we lack leaders to provide our country Leadership. We are used to electing ineffective, inefficient "brown saheb's" as our so called leaders and in turn they continue to appoint equally inefficient and ineffective bureaucrats to head various departments in the country that are obliviously run in-effectively. In other words, as things stand today, our country and us as its citizens are in-effective, inept, emotional morons letting our political classes keep us divided in the name of caste. We will remain ineffective and inept as a nation till we get united within our country.
No American President is allowed to think and say what he feels right, he is like a parrot, he simply reads the comments, speeches that his political speech writer., or an advisor ... a neo-con has written-- the only qualification that Reagen had was his ability to read very well any speech that was written for him ( he was an excellent film actor after all and knows his scripts) and he survivied as the most powerful politician of the world for 8 years, so why not Obama, he can do much better and do better marketing and selling american products and services including advices to countries like India, India will eventually go to dogs by following american advice and strategy.Watch out India. American have a lot of private axes to grind, they are the world's biggest Machiavellians, look at the way they created immense lies and deceit to destroy Saddam Hussein simply because he insulted their President ( Senior Bush) and in the process 12 lacs Iraqis lost their lives.
Take an action that you can show to the people of India..dont take action like we want these 13 people from pakistan..dialogues will go for years..then new problem comes into picture..this is not the solution we need. we need some concrete action that has to taken agains the terrorist...and control it...Former Finance minister, dont try to increase the potential of terrorism in India..saying some junk reason as like rise in the rate of grocery commodities, house rent and etc. People, we need concrete steps from you...
It is absolutely okay to try hard to get the real masterminds
It is absolutely okay if Obama suggests to India to try hard to get the real masterminds, the kingpins and the planners of a terrorist attack which killed the innocent and hang them in public but an organised State crime in retaliation is wrong. What America did after 9/11 tragedy was the biggest State Crime in the modern political history of the world.. Israel does much worse than that . . It is a well known fact in the modern world history that American armament industry loves to see two nations go to war simply because as the coffin maker has no business if no one dies, the same way the expensive American armament industry can not do business if countries are in peace.. Well India can send if they want some brave men and kill an equal number of top ranking Pakistani police officers, give advanced notice to the occupants of a one or two hotels and then destroy the hotels, if you want an eye for an eye, go for it, but we can not quench the eyes of ten thousand in retaliation for the loss of 200. as Obama is presumed to suggest.
The present government has no courage on this.. Atleast BJP would have shown that. That too when the US president supports this.... India will never get such opportunity in history on attacking pak... time is ripe now... go on and you have green signal for pak raid now...
what courage did they show when the parliament was attacked?
We have seen BJP's performance when Parilament, Akshardham,Raghunathji temples were attacked. BJP promised many things but did nothing. Congress to has no back bone to stand up and be counted when it comes to dealing with Pakistan.
Does India have the guts? US after 9/11 went after Saddam with no proof. India has plenty of proof and reasons but no guts.
