Pranab

New Delhi Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday said India reserved the right to take military action if its territory was under threat.

"I am neither making any comment on military options. What I am saying is every sovereign country has its right to protect its territorial integrity and take appropriate action as and when it feels necessary," Mukherjee told a TV channel.

Pranab said that it would be difficult to carry on in peace process with Pakistan started in 2004 unless Islamabad took action after the deadly attacks on Mumbai.

"We have no intention of not carrying out the peace process," Pranab Mukherjee said.

"If these incidents are not adequately addressed by the other side, it becomes difficult to carry out business as usual and that includes the peace process."

Hi,This was the right time to liberate PoK from Pakistan and end some of the hassles.I am not sure what prompted India not to take that action.

WE HAVE LOST THE WAR ! by HEMU on 02 Dec 2008

Only ISRAEL ,will take strong action against Pakistan. Because they have got the guts and strong will power. They care for their ordinary citizen's lives. To expect anything like that from our ,shameless, corrupt, powerhungry and CHAPRASIS of Italian madam is just a dream. We all Indians deserve to die oneday at the hands of terrorists !

Not a shrewd decision by (Dr.) B.N. Anand on 02 Dec 2008

Sir It was too early for our foreign minister to say so prematuredly. Our course wars are no solution, but at least some pressure could have been be brought upon our neighbour through some coercive diplomacy. It is much better to punish Pakistan through some economic measures and that could have been done when it had to mobilise its forces from one location to another out of fear of a possible war with India in response to another operation "Prakaram" from our side. Alternately, our country should have some assurances from the USA and other NATO countries to destroy the training camps of LeT and of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Jand K and other parts of Pakistan. Even after having borne the brunt of proxy war from Pakistan for so many years, our country has not played its diplomatic cards well. May be the govt. has some secret plans but only time will tell whether this decision was a shrewd or not.. For now and to a common man it looks like a premature decision.

Tackiling Pakistan by Sridhar on 02 Dec 2008

Why did Pakistan decide to withhold their ISI chief from visiting India? Because they knew that it was the ISI, without their government's knowledge, which trained these terorists. It is as simpel as that. The answer is not in all out war with Pakistan. The answer is in exposing the information given by the terrorists. This info must be made availble to each and every one in the country and to every ocountry in the world.

India says no military action against Pakistan by satish singh on 02 Dec 2008

I am sure if India today says that we will act militarily against Pakistan from tomorrow world will put the presure on Pakistan to dismantle the terrorist camps and from next time they will think twice before doing something like this.

Dirty politics killed out top officers... by Nautankee on 02 Dec 2008

Sir, there was intelegence report which states that the terrorist attacks were on the way, but the problem for the Indian commandoes was, that if they arrested anyone then the politicians use to give foul comments to the ATS chief and his staff. Now with these kinds of stupid leaders why wouldn't the terrorirst flourish? In the case of our hindu terrorists, Rajnath, Advani etc. wanted to narco test Hemant Karkare and his staff, now in such circumstances who would work with honest for India? Unluckliy, Hemant karkare´was murdered just the day after he recieved threats to his life.India and rest of the world must stand firm in their war against terror, but they must also get hold of Advani like politicians who interferred in the work of Anti Terrorist Squad. Instead of misuseing their time, he should have let them work in peace, and maybe the Mumbai blasts could have been avoided. By the way, wher is the teeth less tiger Balu? Still in hideing?

Politics by S.Panicker on 02 Dec 2008

one or two political parties are enough in the country, balance to be banned. After election this small parties join the other by bargaining and they do as much as corruptions during the period. The election commission has to Implement their laws to restrict

Every time since 1993, Mumbai blast, we always blame pakistan, is it true? we say that recently the captured muslim terrorist is belong to Pakistan. If it is so, then which province, city/town, street or house he belonG?we must give every concrete evidence to Pak and USA.But fact is not belong to pak, he may be of Indian origin. My fellow Indian friends, its a dirty vote bank game by corrupted psudosecular congress.Muslim fanatics are growing in India at explosive rate, it is impossible to believe who is good or bad? Who i sbehind these attacks by Ishtiaq on 02 Dec 2008

The distance between Karachi and Mumbai is about 500Nmile. Traller carrying these these attacker must have taken 50 hrs to reach Mumbai as trailler can't move more than 10Nmile/hr. My question is what Indian Navey was doing in those 50 hrs. There are 21 Indian redars active in these indian waters. Were all redars were sleeping

Terrorist Attacks by Lynette on 02 Dec 2008

I wish to thank the people of India for doing all in their power to assist the foreign tourists that were the principal targets for these killers. It must not be forgotten that many Indians lost their lives also. The only way for India to adress these attacks is to join with the West in fighting the scourge of militant Islam. Co-operative intellligence is the key and taking intelligence seriously when it is given in the form of a warning. I have a Jewish friend who also wants to thank India's people - especially the Indian nanny who rescued the little two year old boy at the Jewish centre. We are hoping that she will be compensated for her bravery. Good luck - and God bless India.

India says no military action by Kishore on 02 Dec 2008

Very foolish of our Foreign Minister to say this now. He took away all the tension from the situation. No action required now from Pakistan or US or UK or UN. Back to square one. Very good. There is no value for an Indian's life.

Wise decision, because let the international community stand together to do surgery in Pakistan. by DHARAMNAL on 02 Dec 2008

War is perhaps the easiest solution, but that is not the real solution, because not only India and Pakistan, but the entire world must sit together and ask Pakistan to dismantle all terrorists organisations within its boundry. Then if pakistan cannot fullfil this task, then the entire democratic world must send their forces inside Pakistan to help them dismantle these terrorist camps. The last terrorist attack on Mumbai was not only an attack on India but on the entire international community. This henious attack was as wicked as the attack on WTC, London, Madrid, Bali etc.

NO MILITARY ACTION AGAINST PAKISTAN by BHARATMATAKIJAI on 02 Dec 2008

I find it amusing that so many people surprised by this response for the lame-duck govt? This govt are a bunch of chamchas of foreign power with no originality. They have sold themselves and the country. They will do exactly what the Americans and Italians say. They have no guts.. well we deserve this and more for voting for fools like Pranab again and again.. vote them once more and they will ensure that the entire country is destroyed while they laugh their way to the Swiss banks.

India surrenders to Terrorism. Thanks to UPA by Ajay, Pune on 02 Dec 2008

Useless Congress by obama on 02 Dec 2008

PYAR MOHOBBAT BOHOT HO GAYI by B. SRIDHR on 02 Dec 2008

THESE STATEMENTS ARE NOT SURPRISING AT ALL. WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT ATTACKING PAKISTAN IS THE LAST OPTION. BUT IF YOU ANALYSE THE STATEMENTS EMANATING FROM PAKISTANI ESTABLISHMENT ONE WILL NOTICE THAT THEY HAVE NOT EVEN SAID THAT IF EVIDENCE IS PROVIDED THEY WILL DO THE NEEDFUL. THEY SAY THAT THEY WILL DECIDE AFTER EXAMINING THE PROOF. THIS MEANS THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING AT ALL. THEY HAVE STARTED BLACKMAILING THE US ON THE PRETEXT THAT THEY WILL MOVE THE FORCES ON INDIAN BORDER. IN THE FIRST PLACE WE SHOULD CUT ALL DIPLOMATIC TIES WITH PAK. CLOSE THE EMBASSY AND DRIVE THEIR H.C. OUT,CLOSE THE RAIL AND ROAD LINK. BRING THEM ON THEIR KNEES BY STOPPING WATER FROM RIVERS ORIGINATING IN OUR COUNTRY AND FLOWING THROU PAK. WE NEED TO TAKE STRONG ACTION. PYAR MOHABBAT BOHOT HO GAYI

Time To Act by A.L.Chopra on 02 Dec 2008

Time To Act:India must carry out strikes against terrorist training camps where ever these are located in Pakistan or Occupied Kashmir and destroy these. Our Foreign Minister saying that no Military action,is a spineless reaction from a spineless guy.If India does not take strong action now, similar attacks will become a regular affair on other Indian Cities.Every country must protect its own citizens, and a Govt which can not provide safety to its citizens, has no right to rule us.The masses are waiting to throw out these bunch of spineless ministers of Congress and other groups very soon in coming elections.
