Nsg operation taj hotel mumbai

Mumbai Security forces on Saturday ended the terror siege of Mumbai killing four terrorists in Taj hotel, the last theatre of action where 22 bodies were found, after 60 hours of intense battle with the band of ultras who struck the country's financial capital killing 183 people.

"All operations are over. The NSG has formally reported that the operations are complete and now Taj, Oberoi and Nariman House are being sanitised. There are no more terrorists now in Mumbai. All have been liquidated or captured alive," M L Kumawat, Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry, said in Delhi.

The magnitude of the attack by suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba elements, who are believed to have come by the sea route from Karachi, could be gauged from the statement of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra R R Patil who said with the ammunition the terrorists had, they could have killed 5,000 people.

NSG Chief J K Dutt, who announced the end of ‘Operation Black Tornado’ in which his commandos took on the heavily-armed ultras, said in all they eliminated eight terrorists--four in Taj, two in Trident-Oberoi and two in Nariman House. Another terrorist was killed by the Mumbai police on Wednesday night while one was captured alive.

The elimination of the four terrorists in Taj came on Saturday morning after intense battle between the commandos, who believed there was a lone gunman holding out, and the terrorists who kept exploding grenades at periodic intervals.

The security forces rescued 250 people in Oberoi, 300 in Taj and 12 families of 60 people in Nariman House.

Dutt said five bodies were recovered alongwith those of some terrorists in Taj and there was indication that these five were killed in the initial part of the hostage crisis.

TERROR SHOULD BE STRICTLY DEALT WITH by Manbir Singh Pabla on 28 Nov 2008

We have witnessed a dreadful year 2008 ,terror attacks in every metropolitan and financial turmoil.Terrorism is not letting us to grow peacefully and harmoniously. Here are my views to stop this terror 1)Have a global anti terror agency scrutinizing, monitoring the terror camps all around the world and especially in S.Asia.Terror and militant training camps should be missile attacked by all the combined forces of the global agency.2)India should have a autonomous self governing Anti Terror Agency3)Joint exercises between Intelligence agencies on tracing terror links and rescue operations management.4)CCTV and technological infrastructure to monitor movements of people in crowded places like stations,airports,markets.5)Electronic cards like ATM's should replace ration cards, licenses, passports so that none outside the country can acquire indian identity cards.6)Tougher anti terror law but simultaneously following human rights a democracy should.

this is not only the problem for mumbai but it is problem for the whole india. Raj thakrey claimed to be hero of mumbai. i want to know where is he now? all the militants are from north and south. why didn't he send his sena now to recue the innocent people.

Security for few by sonia on 28 Nov 2008

Why blame the opposition - Sonia lead congress at center and Maharastra have been more interested in scoring political points and retaining power at all cost. Sonia got her son-in-law to be exempted from security clearance - he is more important than military chiefs. With 'leaders' like these we dont need enemies. Security and luxury for a few at tax payers expense while the rest are left to pray and thank for each day they stay alive.

Terror attack in Mumbai by Chandra Padaruth on 28 Nov 2008

Come on now Raj Thackeray, you and your marathi army, come and fight the real enemies of Mumbai ;: the TERRORISTS. Where are you hiding now. terrorism and political thoughts by rsahoo on 28 Nov 2008

People unfortunately fail to understand thesequence of things. The real culprit is the UPA government.People ar rising all slogans against raj thackeray. But it is lalloo who is to blamed for the whole episode. He initiated this by publishing the railway job recruitment only in bihar gazzetes and not all over india. This is the way to divide and rule. The next one is the great Arjun singh who might offer scholarship and legal aid to this terrorists as he may consider them patriotic.

reply to Arnab -where is raj thackery by santhosh on 28 Nov 2008

India will be more stronger by Zahid on 28 Nov 2008

Together we win – Divided we fallHats off to our commandos and police force who bravely fought and even sacrificed their lives to save India. After rescue operation, we need to strengthen the process of investigation and maintain peace and integrity among nationals. The investigation agencies must find the real culprits behind all such terror attacks. Only through fair and genuine investigation, we would be able to find the real culprits and punish them for all such terrorist attacks. Being civilian we must extend our all moral support to police, administration, investigation agencies and judiciary. We should make efforts to promote peace, harmony and integrity among ourselves. We must assure that there is no mischief spreading non sense, hatred and ill will among our youths who have rush of blood. Wish a brighter and more powerful India will emerge after such bloodshed and fatal attacks on India. Zahid

Hello Indian Express,Had a point, though not direcly related, just wanted to raise a point (and would actually love you raising a voice on this), Where has our respected Raj Thakarey (So called "Marathi Manoos") been in all this action, has he not noticed all this, is he aware what is happening, why has he not said a word, why has he not come ahead seeing so many kiilings. Do we assume with this event got him under his bed, and savin his *** rather than trying to help his so Called "Marathi Manus" and Mumbai.

Prizes to Jawans by Mahesh on 28 Nov 2008

Cricketers and Olympic winners are getting big prizes now a days. The Brave jawans of our Army, NSG, Polic, ATS etc should be gifted good prizes for their worthless effort in evacuating terrorists and releasing the hostage. Great job all your Bravos! Corporate and Govt should think of it.

ATS Chief Hemant Karkare and Mumbai terror by Dinesh V.Baliga on 28 Nov 2008

Deeply regret the demise of ATS Chief along with several of his dynamic and courageous officers who laid down their lives in fighting the terrorists. My deepest sympathies to their near and dear ones. Karkare and his team needed careful planning and strategies to the encounter before taking a spontaneous plunge. Their courage is highly admired, but probably lack of preparation and with no sophisticated rapidfire weapons in hand they became sitting ducks in the hands of terrorists. We all have to put our heads down in shame looking at the pathetic and ill prepared status of our security agencies. Constables had only lathis as defence weapons against AK 47 and Hand grenades. It is more than urgent for all concerned to have sophistication in modern anti terrorism warfare and for India it is need of the hour.

Puppets by manish chawla on 28 Nov 2008

That's what happens when we have puppets and jokers ruling the country ...Home Minister ,CM ,Deputy CM are nothing more than puppets and jokers meant to entertain the Madam who is sitting in Delhi with eyes only on coming elections ....when they were playing politics over North Indian issue with Raj thackeray ,terrorits were coolly planning their targets .....I feel ashmaed that we are ruled by these useless people .... they have spoiled the image of India in the world ....
