New Delhi India is looking at options to scale down operations of its missions in Afghanistan in the wake of terror attacks against Indians there, said Government sources.

Government is also considering keeping all Indians working in road and power projects in Afghanistan together for security reasons.

At least 10 Indians were killed when Taliban suicide bombers carried out a string of attacks in the heart of Kabul on February 26, in yet another incident targeting Indian interests in Afghanistan.

The bombers struck at a number of guest houses, particularly at Park Residence, rented out by the Indian embassy for its staffers and those linked to India's developmental work in Afghanistan.

India's Great Decision.. by Sheuli on 11 Mar 2010

A country that cannot save its own people in their own people would be absolutely hopeless outside. When US forces leave Afghanistan, Taliban will gobble up India in a jiffy. Arundhati Roy and Brinda Karat will be Taliban's official ambassadors till they will be shot in some stadium.

Afghanistan and India by Archana on 11 Mar 2010

Pulling out would be letting the Taliban control the situation. That is a reactive rather than proactive. It means India is playing the Taliban/Pakistan's game. Having all Indians together would mean the terrorists will have one big target. Moving out would be harmful to India's future economic prospects there. A better approach would be to hire from other countries (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan....) to add to the non-critical functions of the mission.

Kongess, Kandhar, Kowerdice.. by Manoj Agarwal on 10 Mar 2010

These Congress people were the one, who were clamouring the hardest about Kandhar hijeck I believe. After Krishna, we have a second menon.. good luck to India with him as NSA. This is just the beginning...

Afghanistan;Scaling down by Ven Sardi on 10 Mar 2010

I am not sure whether it is a wise move for India to scale down operations in Afghanistan which is a friendly country going through the pains of terrorism. India is a soul partner in this, just as USA is. Security of our personnel is important. We must take necessary measures to ensure this but we can't cut and run away. We have international obligations to oppose terrorism in which Afghanistan and India have a role to play, jointly with America Ven Sardi

If true, this shows the eminent success of Pakistan`s machinations. If we are committed to our policy,we should exercise other options available to us.Take inspiration frm Chanakya`s philosophy!
