"Sri Lankan military is planning a major attack to capture Vanni from the Tamil Tigers. Their plan is to bring the Tamil area from Mohamalai forward defense line up to Paranthan close to Kilinochchi (the LTTE headquarters) under their control," M K Sivajilingam of the Tamil National Alliance, a pro-LTTE party, said.
"Surely, thousands of innocent Tamils will be killed," he said.
He also said the Tamils in Lanka, who have "not been able to live a peaceful life in their own country", are looking for help from India, especially people from Tamil Nadu.

RatingIt is nothing to do with India. Shirlankan gvt should handle LLTE as they deem it necessary. It is surprising to see LTTE still have support from some quarters in India. It should be understood by the supporters that any armed revolt againt own nation shoudl not be tolderated.
No separatist force will be accepted by any country(even in india-kashmir).If so,the country goes to any extent to counter the threat.Srilankan effort in this direction to contain LTTE is understandable.AT THE SAME TIME,see tamils can be given autonomy in tamil dominated areas.tHAT will be a face saver for both of them.Before all,LTTE should stop attacking like all public and political personalities.Violence is not always the path to attain objective.I dont know what they were doing in the norweigian peace process.God save srilankan brethren.Meanwhile our beloved tamil friends in tamilnadu should mind their business and avoid taking sides in this bloody war.
It is no business of India in Shri Lanka. It is Tamils of Shri Lanka has to find their place in that country in peaceful manner and if can't do so they have to face what may come!
DMK and AIDMK can throw some language bombs at Sinhalese because they are expert in exploiting language sentiments to the fullest hilt. They are also good at language blackmail and some south grouping against North when national language is not imposed. Yet, IPKF was sent to protect them and they killed the Indian IPKF soldiers brutally. A whole young sikh regiment was killed by LTTE when they landed in Sri-Lanka. THIS IS HOW LANGUAGE FANATICS GET POLLUTED IN THE HEAD AND and consider friend as foe.
I think the Sri Lankan tamils lost the sympathy of all Indians the day they killed Rajiv Gandhi. It is disgusting that a tamil MP from Sri Lanka, knowing what the LTTE has done in the past, is asking for intervention from India. Also this is an internal matter for Sri Lanka to sort out. I think the only thing the Indian government should do is to stay well out of this. I don't think Sri Lankan tamils can expect for any sympathy from India.
This LTTE should be controlled at the earliest. They are dangerous not only for sri lanka but for neighbouring countries too. In 1988, they unsucessfully tried to capture Maldives. Had it not been for India.. Maldives would have become a LTTE base. They dont have any agenda except killing people in gruesome manner eg;- Rajiv Gandhi's case.
Its time for Bharat to bombard Sri Lanka and save our Tamil brethens. I wonder why Tamils of TamilNadu are so slient and not helping Tamils of Sri Lanka. I am not a Tamil, but a Bharatiya. I can't bear the sufferings of Tamils of Sri Lanka. Lakhs of Tamils has become homeless, living as refugees here and there. But we Indians are silently ignoring their plight, as we ignore Kashmir Hindus plights. Awake Bharat, save Sri Lankan Tamil brethens.
Why would India help the Tamilians in Sri Lanka? Remember who killed Rajiv? Remember who helped? Tamilians all over the world are a divisive community, at times really petty and always political. Nah! If the LTTE had never called for carving a part of Tamilnadu to form a Tamil nation and if they hand't assassinated Rajiv we would have considered helping. Right now I don't give a crap about the Sri Lankan Tamils.
Do not forget that the Srilankan Tamils are HINDUS. They are facing the wrath of the Buddhist Sinhala. They have 2 faults within themselves. First they are Hindus and second they are Tamil Nationalistic. India should support the Srilankan Tamils this does not mean that India should support the LTTE. This demand for help should come from the Tamil MPs from Tamilnadu and not from a Tamil MP in Sri Lanka. Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE and not by the ordinary Srilankan Tamil. Congress
The Sri Lankans can addopt the Indian Constitution and Currency for fifty years, where by seperate states can be created and exist democratically and peacefully, later when peace comes to full existance and dust settles down, then they can have their own democratic constitution, no other way exists to stop the war in this small land. Sri Lanka seems to be fighting India's battle. All this talk about India becoming a super-power is a lie. A terrorist outfit kills the Leader of India's opposition who was to become the PM and India does nothing to catch the culprit. Don't Indians have any self-respect? If the Lankan Govt wipes out the LTTE and thousands of Tamils, so be it. This is Divine Justice and the law of Karma playing it's hand.
